Workshop on Seafarers' Welfare, MLC Compliance, and Maritime Law Enforcement

June 23 - 24, 2026 Pattaya, Thailand

Led by the International Transport Workers' Federation (ITF), a "Workshop on Seafarers' Welfare, MLC Compliance, and Maritime Law Enforcement" was successfully held in Pattaya, Thailand, from June 23 to 24. The event saw comprehensive participation and discussions from experts representing the Department of Special Investigation, Mission To Seafarers, Port State Control Maritime Department, and MAST HUMAN.

Workshop Presentation Speaker addressing attendees

During the workshop, ITF representatives Ms. Sandra Bernal and Mr. Mohamed Arrachedi delivered keynote presentations. They primarily focused on how to effectively implement and practice maritime laws on the ground, addressing critical issues such as seafarer abandonment, human trafficking, and the responsibilities involved in protecting victims.

We are pleased to share that U Shwe Tun Aung, Founder of IFOMS, also participated in these vital discussions.

"We are immensely proud and delighted that our IFOMS team members had the opportunity to attend and participate in such an important major maritime workshop. As an organization, we pledge and firmly commit to standing resolutely against injustices faced by our fellow seafaring brothers and sisters, and we will continue to exist as a stronger, more reliable organization."
